Youth Group News!!!!
WOW!!! What a busy September we had. We were able to help two different families with their yard sale and received the left over items for our own rummage sale that will take place on October 22nd . If you have any unwanted items at your house---we would love any donations. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year. We are in the planning stages of another mission trip. We are looking at a soup kitchen in Washington D.C. as a possibility. I will continue to update you on that upcoming event throughout the rest of the year. Thank you for those that took time out of their busy schedule to bake/cook for the Padgett family. We were able to take the dinner to the family at Milligan College where we found Halie Padgett on the mound pitching strikes against Milligan’s softball team. They were so thankful and blessed by your outpouring of love and support through this simple act of kindness. We also took a group of ten to Kingsport to hear former University of Tennessee Inky Johnson speak to us about character, perseverance, and faith. The month of October is going to be so busy for us. We’ll have another youth meeting on Saturday, October 1st. We’ll meet at the church at 6:30to go pick up some rummage sale donations. If we have time, we’ll then head to “Judgment House” at Sinking Creek Baptist Church. We will not have youth on Saturday, October 8th. That is the end of Johnson City Schools fall break. Our youth are planning to attend the first ever 'Fields of Faith' at SHHS's Kermit Tipton Stadium on October 12th (a free event Wednesday 7-8:30 pm open to all)...Please mark your calendar! Fields of Faith is open to everyone in the community, all schools, all ages, many youth groups attend (using the event as an outreach!), so plan on attending/hosting a FOF in October...pass the word! This is an awesome event that several other area schools have done for years with great success!! On Thursday, October 13th, we are going to head over to Westminister Presbyterian Church to listen to Coach Philip Fulmer (former UT coach) about how to be a strong leader in the church. Please let me know if you would like to go with our youth to this event. We’ll have our rummage sale setup on Sunday, October 16th from 6-8pm. We’ll also have work nights on Thursday and Friday night from 7-9. The rummage sale will be on Saturday, October 22ndfrom 8-2. Our Fall Festival will be on October 29th from 4-6. Our youth need to be there at 3 o’clock to help set up. Youth Group Sunday will be on Sunday, October 30th. Once again, we are thankful for you. Keep your faith, hope, and love in the Lord. Your brother in Christ, David Nutter
