Youth Group News!!!
July was another busy month for our youth. We took a hike to Roan Mountain on Sunday, July 8th from 1-5. We had twelve people on the trip. Even though we got rained on---we made the best of the trip. We ended up roasting s’mores at the Treece’s home. Thank you Treece’s for the quick backup plan. On Saturday, July 28th, we headed to Sycamore Shoals State Park and attended Tennessee’s official outdoor drama, presented by local performers against the backdrop of Fort Watauga. We learned about the Revolution as told by the Overmountain Men: colonists who defied British law and settled on Cherokee lands. These settlers formed an independent government, made treaties with the Cherokee, defended their homes, and fought a British army at the epic battle of King’s Mountain. By attending this, our youth group learned about the history in the area while supporting one of our very own, Scott Pruitt, during the reenactment. As you can see, we have a lot planned for our youth. On August, 4th, our youth will attend the 4th annual pig roast at my house. It’s a time of fun and fellowship. On Friday, August 10th, we’ll be serving families through Family Promise. On Sunday, August 25th we’ll head to the bowling alley to bowl a few games as a group from 6:30-8:30. Thank you again for your continued support and prayers in our youth.
